GOLD MEDAL

Jared Bartlett of Middletown Springs received a silver medal in Residential Wiring at the National SkillsUSA Convention in Kansas City Missouri on June 24, 2005. A 2005 graduate of Poultney High School, Jared attended Stafford Technical Center in the Electrical/Plumbing Program in his junior and senior years of high school.
The SkillsUSA Championship is considered to be the largest single day of corporate “volunteerism” in America valued at $25 million in industry support of donated time, equipment, cash and material. Over 1,000 industry judges participate this year.

All winners receive medallions and frequently receive tools of their trade and/or scholarships to further their careers and education. The SkillsUSA Championship is for high school and college-level students who are members of SkillsUSA. More than 4,600 students from every state and three territories competed in 80 contests in technical, skilled and service occupations. In order to qualify for the national competition, the students competed in local and state contests. The state gold medal winners advanced to the national SkillsUSA Championships.

Jared has already completed his first year Electrical Apprenticeship through Vermont Technical College coursework in Stafford’s evening program and is continuing this fall in the second of four years of training. Jared is currently employed by LTD, Inc. in Manchester, where he is pursuing his career as an Electrical Apprentice.
