This course will assist students in learning medical terminology so that they can effectively communicate with other members of the health care team. Students will learn medical terminology using learning activities identifying structure, building medical words, identifying symptoms, pharmacology, medical procedures, abbreviations, pertinent anatomy and physiology, areas of medical specialization, diseases, and medical records. Instruction will also include some basic anatomy and physiology, proper pronunciation of medical terms, and the use of a medical dictionary.

Please note that students will be expected to purchase the textbook prior to the first class meeting, and to have familiarized themselves with the first chapter.
