This is a beginners level project based class to learn how to create a basic website. This course includes an introduction to web pages for websites: use of and design with HyperText Markup Language, text and graphics; applying appropriate design, color, and art; size and place graphics, including imagemaps, in a web page. Everyone has a story to tell, and “Writing Life Stories” can help you turn your memories into effective narratives, even if you have never considered yourself a writer. This class will provide hints to jumpstart the writing process, and offer practical writing advice about the fundamentals of plot and character development. We will also read and study together some life stories that others have written, to provide inspiration for our own writing. By the end of this class, each participant should have two complete short-form memoirs or the beginning of a book.

Are you easily distracted, prone to mood swings and have problems with procrastination and disorganization? You may have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and not realize it. ADD is more difficult to diagnose with adults than children. Symptoms are often disguised as difficulties in relationships, occupational underachievement and low frustration tolerance. It can be a frightening, frustrating disorder to live with – but you can learn to manage it successfully. In this informative class, Susan Venman, a personal and professional coach who specializes in coaching adults with ADD, will talk about the different types of ADD and help you to: identify adult ADD in yourself and others; understand its causes; learn coping strategies for overcoming disorganization, procrastination, time management, and other deficit areas; learn about medical and alternative approaches and dietary solutions for managing ADD.

INTRODUCTION TO HORSE MASSAGE THERAPY

Horses get aches and pains just like humans do, but they can’t use words to make their complaints known. Horse massage or equine therapy is a good way to help your horse move more freely and perform better with less pain and stress on their body. This class will introduce you to the muscles and their location on the horse’s body, and the basic moves to help massage them. Students will be tested on all material presented, and practice on each other to get the basic feel and movement for massage. At the end of this class students will have gained the knowledge necessary to add this loving component to their horse’s grooming time.

POETRY WORKSHOP

Fledging as well as more experienced poets are welcome to participate in this nurturing atmosphere with an opportunity for gentle feedback. We’ll read and examine the work of other poets, and do writing exercises to help develop more understanding in crafting original poems. This workshop involves the study of poetic elements including alliteration, assonance, metaphor, simile, personification, etc.

The Creative Process is a course that will explore a wide range of topics and issues associated with creativity. Much confusion surrounds the notion of creativity: definitions and myths about creativity will be explored. PhotoShop is a piece of software that any person can learn and use to manipulate photo images in a variety of ways. This introductory class will teach students how to improve the appearance of any digital image with the set of color correction tools that are a part of this popular and user-friendly Adobe software package. You will also learn how to remove scratches, dust, and other flaws from your photographs as well as how to use selection techniques, special effects, layering and other special effects filters associated with your software. No previous PhotoShop experience is necessary but basic computer literacy is essential.
