  4. Enrollment Report
    1. Debra asked about efforts to encourage young ladies. Attempted to bring a bus of girls to Vermont’s “Women Can Do” conference last month but no students were interested. We have discussed how we might sponsor a bus of younger students, who are not yet at Stafford, to attend next year. Stafford helped sponsor the Girls in Engineering event at VELCO for students in grade 4. Melissa discussed the challenge of the Vermont State Colleges new student minimum of 5 in order to offer college credit. Lori Cillo will also be focusing on encouraging potential students to explore non-traditional programs. It was suggested that we also utilize community members as guest speakers or presenters to encourage non-traditional participation.
  5. STC Student Businesses
    1. Melissa presented a summary of existing businesses, including revenue from FY16. She is working with instructors to better track their business finances. We need to increase the level of involvement of students in the actual planning and running of the business. They need to learn how to sustain a business.
  6. Vermont CTE Programs
    1. Cindy researched and provided information from the AOE web site.
    2. Scott mentioned the need for HVAC and manufacturing.
    3. Debra asked about environmental technology.
    4. REDC has done a survey of its membership to determine training/employment gaps. They have promised to share the information with us.
  7. Other
    1. Lori Cillo and Lorin Gides are hosting a breakfast meeting November 2 for county special educators and guidance counselors. They will be explaining the STC admissions process and entrance requirements.
