Open House

Visit Stafford and learn more about our programs. This daytime Open House is designed for business community people. Our evening Open House (March 2, 2107) is designed for prospective students wishing to apply for next school year.

Thank you Mayor Louras!

Rutland City’s Mayor, Chris Louras, signed a proclamation declaring February Career Technical Education Month in the city of Rutland. We thank him for recognizing our school, and the benefit we bring to the community.

January 2017

As you may have heard we suffered some water damage in the building. Some of our program areas were affected and we will temporarily relocate those programs.  We have put together plans that allow for us to continue offering the same great educational opportunities as always.  Bellezza Salon will be unable to have clients in for a short time. We will let you know as soon as the salon is able to open.  Until further notice the following programs are affected in the following ways:

  • Auto Tech and Auto Refinishing and Power Mechanics will be entering their program areas from the outside
  • Public Safety will be in Room 119 (the auto tech classroom)
  • Digital Arts will be in the RHS Information Center computer lab upstairs
  • Cosmo 1 will be in STC room 206
  • Cosmo 2 will meet in the Dollhouse Restaurant
  • Health Careers will be in STC room 211
  •  Learning Center will be in STC 201 (the old Learning Center)

College Visits

Part of the experience at Stafford is visiting colleges. Recently Culinary Arts and Forestry programs visited Paul Smiths College in New York.

Partnership with the Sheriff’s Office

For the annual Halloween Parade Stafford’s Public Safety and Criminal Justice  and Construction Technology program partnered with Rutland County Sheriff’s Office. With the support from the sheriff, and support from students, Vince and Larry (the crash test dummies) and MacGruff the Crime dog were able to take part in the parade.

Visitors!

Poultney 8th grade “Pathways” class visited 6 different programs  on October 11th. Here students work on some basil in the Culinary Arts Program.

Puzzle Building

STEM Academy students start building puzzle cubes. The cubes are used for gathering statistics on solving times, measuring activities, planning skills, sketching practice and many other educational purposes. They even get some fun out of it!

Getting Right to Work

Electrical/Plumbing students perform some adjustments to the solar panels at the Green Mountain Power Solar farm.

If you enroll in the electrical / plumbing program at Stafford you can expect to be out in the “real” world doing “real” work. You also have the chance to earn college credits, log hours toward VT Registered Apprentice as an electrician or plumber, and OSHA certification related to the field.

“Employment of electricians is projected to grow 14 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. As homes and businesses require more wiring, electricians will be needed to install the necessary components. The job prospects for electricians should be very good, as many employers report difficulty finding qualified applicants.”(http://www.bls.gov/ooh/construction-and-extraction/electricians.htm )
