STC Public Safety and Criminal Justice Program attended live VT Supreme Court Hearings at the RHS Theatre with RHS students and the RHS Mock Trail Student Club. We listened to three actual cases pending before the Justices. It was an opportunity to learn about our Vermont Court System and see and hear it live. After the court hearings, the Justices then did a “Q & A” session for students. The Justices talked about their roles, shared insight on what students can do to get into a law profession, and notably, they talked about their goal of a “civil discourse” to bring resolution to cases brought before the VT Supreme Court. Students got to meet the Justices.
