Public Safety & Criminal Justice students Caelyn LaMere, Alana Munukka, and Elliot Rosenberg participated in the Vermont Mock Trial Competition at Vermont Law School in Chelsea, Vermont, on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Our team was responsible for providing defense, and we paired with Rutland High School to provide a full defense team and witnesses, totaling six students. Inside information from the judge who handled our team advised that we were able to show reasonable doubt and the defendant would have been found not guilty. It was a great day to learn about the court process, and students have been preparing since January to learn rules of law, prosecution and defense strategies, methods to present evidence, witness testimony, and ways to object to hearsay, and more. What a great day of watching the teams and students put together what they learned about the law, argue their cases, and do so professionally!
