Recently, the Education & Human Services program, accompanied by academic teachers from English, Mathematics, and History, took a field trip to The Shelburne Museum.
The academic team has been working hard to integrate academics into program areas and found that this museum offers multiple opportunities to discuss all of these subjects.
Mrs. Berman led an activity on scale as the students measured the model of the Ticonderoga and compared several measurements to the actual ship. Mrs. Kennedy led a discussion on scale and maps and will discuss the history of the Ticonderoga. Mrs. Patterson observed and will lead a discussion on field trips, and also share some readings from the time period, which is reflected at the museum.
This learning has helped students with a current project, creating a preschool classroom design map, which they are drawing to scale.
